In 1987, I graduated high school at the age of 17 and by the time I was 21 I was separated with two young children. At the age of 30, 13 years after I graduated from high school, my children and I walked across the stage at Cornell University as I received my Bachelor’s degree. Three years later I graduated from Penn Law School.
However, in addition to pursuing an education, raising my children and practicing law, I also spent 19 years struggling with love relationships, especially that ever important love relationship with myself.
We’re all multi-dimensional, and I’ve come to realize that I have two passions in life: helping people learn about love relationships and how to build successful, happy relationships and helping people achieve goals and dreams they never thought possible. People often asked me how I was able to complete my education as a single mom on my own. I would see their faces when I would humbly answer, “by the Grace of God” or some other similar unhelpful statement. They wanted to know, how did I do it. So, I decided to put down my thoughts about what I believe it takes to achieve any goal, what I call our Incredible Task© (IT). And, I do believe that IT’s Totally Doable!
As I was achieving my educational goals, I dated and loved and married for a second time. After separating from my second husband in 2009, I started online dating and, as a woman approaching 40, I quickly realized that dating was different and that men and women are not just Mars and Venus, we’re often not even in the same solar system. I believe BlackLoveRules! and for the past two years I’ve been working on a novel that chronicles the dating life of a recently divorced, nearly 40, professional sister (no coincidence, I write what I know!). I’ll post excerpts from Divorce Party from time to time and look forward to your thoughts.
I truly believe that it is my life’s work to share knowledge and information about love and life and to constantly learn and grow from interacting with people like you. I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned about how men and women communicate with one another and about how it is possible to achieve dreams that you may have thought were unattainable. I would love to hear from you. Thanks for taking this journey with me!
